Atomic roughness enhanced friction on hydrogenated …

2013-8-21 · Atomic friction on hydrogenated graphene is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. Hydrogenation is found to increase friction significantly, and the atomic-level information provided by the simulations reveals that atomic roughness induced by hydrogenation is the primary cause of the friction enhancement.

First-principles study of half-metallicity in semi ...

2011-3-1 · The fully hydrogenated graphene sheet, called as graphane, is a semiconductor with a band gap of 3.5 eV [11–14]. In the experiments, by exposing graphene under hydrogen plasma surroundings, the graphane sheet has already been synthesized .

Nanotribological Properties of Fluorinated, …

2013-1-10 · Recently, the tribological properties of graphene have been intensively examined for potential applications in micro- and nano-mechanical graphene-based devices. Here, we report that the tribological properties can be easily altered via simple chemical modifications of the graphene surface. Friction force microscopy measurements show that hydrogenated, fluorinated, and oxidized graphenes ...
